Tuesday night proved to be a forgettable evening for the Riptide and their supporters. After falling behind early, the ‘Tide struggled to push runs across. Despite rallying to load the bases several times in the later innings of the game, the South Bay Saints were able to minimize the damage and cruise to a 7-2 win against a flat Riptide squad.
Jackson Ramey started the day on a rough note, yielding four walks and four runs in an inning and a third to start the ball game. Perez Knowles came on to pick up the pieces and looked strong in several innings of relief, allowing only one run to come across.
On the offensive side, the Riptide struggled to find a consistent rhythm at any point in the game. Saints starter Josh Gogue stymied Coach Smith’s lineup for two innings before handing the torch to a group of solid relievers. The Riptide created a number of opportunities with runners in scoring position, but as a whole, the group struggled to push the runners in.
The Riptide are thankful to have Wednesday and Thursday off before hitting the road for a two-game weekend series with the defending national champion Santa Barbara Foresters at UCSB.
